Day 125- December 6th, 2018

Hello Readers-

I hope you are doing well in every way and are enjoying the extra joy and love that abounds this time of year! It’s almost time for “Christmas In Nunda!” Join us Friday, December 7th, for the official Tree-Lighting at the Village Square at 5:30.   Santa will be presiding, the children’s choir will be singing, and there will be hot chocolate. It’s supposed to be 27 degrees, so wear warm clothes.

Then come back on Saturday December 8th for some more fun.   Here’s the official “Christmas in Nunda Website” description of what’s going on: “A family fun filled day. Start the day with the Santa Stroll. Breakfast with Santa in school cafeteria 9-11. Shop the vendors 9-5 at the Fire Hall and the KCS gymnasium. Lunch can be found uptown at Papa Don’s hot dog stand, Gleixners Goodies, School cafeteria and Fire Hall. Visit Santa’s workshop at the Baldwin building where adults can sit and rest a bit and the little ones can make ornaments. Pictures with Santa will be 11-12 & 1-2. Also Baldwin Business is having a door-decorating contest for their employees and invite you to come in and place your vote.  Don’t forget to shop Nunda’s businesses where you can find a variety of items for gifts.”

At 6:15 PM we will have a “Festival of Lights Parade” followed by a great Fireworks display. “Be Well in Nunda” will be present throughout the day with a “Costume Stroll” at 8:15 AM in the high school (wear your favorite Christmas or Holiday costume), “Games for Kids” in the Village Square at 11 AM and 2 PM, “Chair Massages” and “Stress Management Station” at “Wellness Options” from 10 AM to 2 PM, a “Be Well Booth” in the high school cafeteria hallway from noon to 5 PM, a “Snack Station” at Baldwin’s from noon to 5 PM and a chance to win prizes – if you sign up. Be sure to tune into WCJW for live coverage of many of our events and interviews of some local folks.

Finally, “Christmas in Nunda” concludes, and (for me) the “Christmas Season” begins, on Sunday, December 9th, with the annual “Community Candlelight Service” at Trinity Church (25 East Street). This Christmas celebration starts with Christmas Music at 6:30 PM performed by the “Music Impromptu String Quartet”, followed by the “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” and the “Lighting of Candles.”   We finish up downstairs with a time of fellowship and conversation (which, of course, includes Christmas Cookies and Punch!)

I hope to see you on all three days or as many as you can manage; things do get busy this time of year.   In the meantime, here are links to all the things we talked about above:

We’re ending this post with two Christmas Music Videos and with thanks to Joan Barney and Bev Clark for pointing us in the right direction:

Michael Bublé and Bing Crosby sing “White Christmas” (together!)

Caleb and Kelsey sing “Christmas Hallelujah”

Thanks for reading and for joining in the quest for wellness.

See you this weekend at “Christmas In Nunda” and see you here Sunday!
